Happy Ne....Uh April 16th!

Ok, so I didn't really pay attention to my last post on Dec '07 about trying to post more often. It's like one of those New Years Resolutions you can never keep. I've been more interested in other peoples blogs than my own. That and Ravelry ... that site is evil, but in a good way :D The same goes for all my KAL's which I haven't been able to keep up with at all!

At any rate, here's some of what I've been up to since Dec:

1. I've decided, that as much as I love afghans, they are definately not for me to knit! They take way too long. Probably why I love knitting socks so much...even if I only knit one at l
east it doesn't take me years to finish. Speaking of which here's the afghan I'm refering to...

It took me 2 yrs to finish but I made it! I didn't keep it however. It now has a lovely new home in Idaho with my Grandfather :)

2. My obsession with knitted bunnies continues. Here's a photo of the original bunny that started it all...

This one was a gift for another grandparent...my Grandma R. When she passed away bunny came back home with me :) She didn't mind...she had a wonderful time in WA with Grandma R and was just happy to well loved.

And.... Here's my newest bunny...Rosie :)

I'm working on a few others, but none are finished yet. I keep getting sidetracked by the sirens call of other projects :)

There's so much more to post, but I'll save that for a later date. Gotta get the camera out and take some more recent JPGs!

La Dentelle Belle

This scarf is for a new KAL group I joined just recently. It's called ILoveKandCAlongs and the group does various KAL & CAL projects. This was the first for me. It took me awhile to cast on. This was the KAL for November :S...but I had to get some of my UFOs for Christmas done first. I'm happy to say that MOST of them got done :D Only my poor Mystic Waters Shawl is still languishing in the UFO pile...

At any rate, when I finally got the change to cast on it was a cold rainy day...hence the reason I couldn't resist the bright cheerful yellow yarn! :) I'll admit it's brighter than I would normally pick - usually I stay FAAAAARRR away from yellow. It's never been a favorite of mine, but I had one skein of Classic Elite Provence yarn hanging around that seemed perfect for this project. I bought it on sale somewhere just because I wanted to try out the yarn and never knew what to do with it before... I do have to say that despite the color I really like the yarn. The color is even starting to appeal to me too ;)

Hopefully when the new year comes around I'll get better at posting more often. I'll have to come up with some sort of schedual...

However, this will probably be my only post for Dec, so Happy Holidays all!!

Secret of the Stole #8 - Hurray!!!

Sorry for the bad picture. I pined it out really quick so I could get a shot and it's kinda crooked. Ah well... IT'S DONE!!! What more is there to say? Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to block it in a reeeeaaaly small area with only wood floors. Hmmm....this is going to take some creative thinking. :)

This KAL was so much fun that I've already signed up for the next SotS KAL. I can't wait for that to begin in January. In the mean time though I guess it will give me some breathing room to finish up some other stuff. One of which is Mom's Santa Quilt...

I'm about 3/4 of the way through quilting it and hope to have it done in the next week or so. I promised to have it to her to use for Christmas. At least I have the binding all ready to go. After that hopefully I can get back to my Mystic Waters Shawl. I'm still on clue #1 and falling more and more behind...

The Friday After...

Hope everyone had a good holiday yesterday. It was pretty quiet here. Unfortunately, I'm back on my antibiotic medication again for another 2 weeks. Apparently the last dose didn't quite get rid of the problem. Here's hoping that this will do it! Needless to say, DH and I had a nice quite Thanksgiving at home with just the two of us. I really can't complain...I did get quite a lot of knitting done :)

First I finished off my Jelly Bean Bunny that has been in limbo since I began all these KALs. He's a cutie! :) The pattern is by Amy Gaines who has a shop on the etsy site. My first real knitting project was a small knitted rabbit from the Last Minute Knitted Gifts book. Ever since then I've been hooked on knitted bunnies :) If anyone out there has any suggestions for bunny pattens or where to find them send me a note. I'm alway looking for new ones :)

My other finished project yesterday was section 7 of the Secret of the Stole KAL. Just in time too! I've already printed off section 8 and plan on having it done this weekend. Hard to believe the KALs done! Where did the time go?? Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to block this thing. With all wood floors in our house I'm going to have to get creative...

Lastly, with the weather turning colder I thought I end with another cat purl of wisdom: (This one is Chibi's favorite!)
"Never waste a perfectly good patch of sunshine."

Secret of the Stole #6

I MADE IT!! I can't believe I've actually finished on time for the prize deadline. There's a first time for everything right? lol! Now to go get started on clue #7 :) Oh, and maybe I should try to get caught up on my Mystic Water shawl...
So much knitting and so little time...

It's been a LOOOONG couple of weeks

First off let me say...HURRAY!! It's offical - I've got an illness!

Ok, I know that sounds like a strange thing to say, but after struggling with my health for almost a year now it feels good to just know I'm not crazy. I've been sick since January and no one's been able to figure out what was wrong with me. Obviously something was wrong, I kept loosing weight was tired all the time and had a problem with nausea and abdominal pain. I've been through 6 different doctors and more tests than I care to remember. Finally my gasteroenterologist sent me up to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in LA. Thanks to them I finally got a diagnosis...Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth. Apparently this is more common than Dr's like to admit. At any rate, the Dr had me on some pretty strong antibiotics for the last few weeks. Thankfully it seems to be working! Unfortunatly because I've had the bacteria for so long, it may take a couple courses of medicine to finally get rid of it. I don't mind that, the only thing I do mind is that the medicine wipes me out when I take it - both physically and mentally. It makes me REALLY loopy and scatterbrained.

Due to the medication making me loopy, I haven't gotten very far on my current KAL's . I'm so far behind on the Mystic Waters Shawl that I'm not sure I'm going to get it done for Christmas. The pattern was too complicated for me to work on while medicated. I was planing on it being a gift, but I may have to revise my plans.

However, I'm close to being caught up on the Secret of the Stole! This is the photo of section 5:

I took photos of the previous sections, but didn't get them posted here. I have each section on my Ravelry project page though. I'm hoping to get section 6 done and posted in time to participate in the drawing tomorrow. It will be the first time I will have been caught up since the KAL started. This has been a great project for my first stole. The pattern is challenging enough to keep me interested, but not so challenging that it frustrates me. I have to say that DK (Nautical Knitter) has done a wonderful job. Thanks for all the fun!

I do have to say that I've really gotten addicted to lace knitting. I've since joined 3 more KALs...secret-of-bad-nauheim, dem-fischer-sin-fru and secretofthestole-ii. Here's hoping I can keep up! lol!

I must be INSANE!

Well, it's official...I've signed up for a total of 4 KAL's now, on top of all my other projects I have going on. Boy when someone told me that these things were addictive they weren't kidding!! One just leads to another and you keep convincing yourself that "Sure, I could use another project...". Never mind the 15-20 other things you've got going on at the moment.

Oh, well....

At any rate, I'm doing my best to keep up. I just finished section 2 of Secret of the Stole and plan to have a jpg up either later today or tomorrow morning. Now on to section 3!! I'm hoping to get caught up before section 4 gets released this friday. However, that may not be possible due to the fact that the Mystic Waters Shawl KAL begins on Wednesday...

As for that KAL, I finally got my yarn and made up my swatch for Mystic Waters.

I'm using a laceweight Merino yarn from Wooly Wonka Fibers. It's the Northern Lights colorway and I'm loving it! This yarn is so easy to work with and feels really nice in my hands. I can't wait to see how the finished shawl will be. It's going to make it REALLY hard to give it up for a Christmas present! :)

The Hemlock Ring KAL I've been working on is in limbo right now. I had the extra yarn so I decided to use the expanded chart and make it larger. I'm not ready to send it to the UFO pile just yet. I still plan on finishing it, I've just gotten a little side tracked with all these KAL's and Ravelry ( another really addicting place ).

Thankfully my last KAL the Spring Shawl Surprice won't start till January. I'm hoping that by then I'll be finished with most of whats going on now and will be able to concentrate on it. But of course you know how that goes...one project gets finished and another one mystically appears to fill the void :) LoL, Why fight it?
